Live Out Loud Charity founder, Sherrie Gearheart, completed a school tour in Southern Illinois (Marion) early 2013. One of the schools Gearheart spoke at was the Longfellow Elementary School. Gearheart presented Core Character Development to grades k-5. This seminar covered an array of topics from anti-bullying, how to make your dreams come true, and the importance of education. Fox 23, The Spiel recorded Gearheart’s speech and then followed up with an interview with Ms. Gearheart, a high school teen Ashley, the Longfellow social worker, and the hosts of The Spiel: Angi and Julie. This show aired LIVE on Fox 23 and is available online. Gearheart able to mentor the teen seen on the show and provided two resources for those in need. One is the national hotline for suicide prevention: 800. 273. Talk and the other is a wonderful mentoring site wwww.powertochange.org. Both of these resources were shared on Fox 23. The purpose of Live Out Loud Charity is to prevent suicide and to act as a referral source for existing organizations and resources that help.
